Then Pilate had Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip. The soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they put a purple robe on him. “Hail! King of the Jews!” they mocked, as they slapped him across the face. John 19:1-3
Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you. For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. (1Peter 2:20-21).
Jesus endured all of this humiliation even for the love of us who would know him centuries later.
Join me in praying that we might love him for all those who don’t, and to give ourselves to prayer and to doing the will of God “in and out of season” (2 Tim 4:2).
